In 1906 in Hamburg, Voss, Nehemais, and Elberstein created a “Simplo Filler Pen.” The “simple” pen would refill using an ink well, which was an innovation of the company. The name Mont Blanc refers the highest peak in the French Alps. Apparently an analogy between the greatness of the simple pen and the great peak of the mountain led to the renaming the company. The Montblanc star emblem has come to represent the highest quality materials and finest craftsmanship. Montblanc has since then created many lines, including the infamous “Meisterstück,” which is still being sold today as the pinnacle of style and design. Montblanc currently sells leathers goods, eyewear, writing instruments, accessories, and watches in addition to fine pens.
