Hublot Watches

Headquartered in Nyon, Switzerland, luxury watch manufacturer Hublot remains tall as one of the most prominent Swiss watch brands in the world. Founder Carl Crocco created the Hublot watch, named for the French word for “porthole,” and utilized the first natural rubber strap (which took three years of research) in watchmaking history. The Hublot watch was first presented at the 1980 Basel Watch Fair, where it failed to attract even a single customer. This did little to hinder the watch, however, as Hublot went on to become a commercial success in its first year with sales in excess of $2 million.

After its founding in 1980, Swiss watch manufacturer Hublot went on to excel in the watchmaking realm, making up to 262.6 million Euros in 2012 in revenue. Hublot has developed many powerful concepts in watches, from Fusion, not long after its inception, to the Hublot ‘Big Bang’ Chronograph in 2005 – which was immediately successful and increased orders threefold that year. Fusion is a concept in watchmaking, pioneered by Hublot, in which a manufacturer creates watches that combine both tradition and innovation. The Hublot “Big Bang” Chronograph was so successful that in November 2005, it won several awards internationally – the “2005 Design Prize in the "Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix", the "Sports Watch Prize" at the "Watch of the Year" ceremony in Japan, and the Middle Eastern Prize for the "Best Oversized Watch" at the Editor’s Choice "Watch of the Year" in Bahrain. Currently, Hublot operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of French company LVMH, as the Fusion-conceptor has ever since the acquisition in April 2008. Hublot’s impressive number of sponsorships serve only to increase its rising global profile. In 2008 Hublot entered a 4 million Pound deal with Manchester United before endorsing other top-ranking football clubs like Ajax Amsterdam and FC Bayern Munich. United States basketball teams Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat are also sponsored by Hublot, and the watch brand functioned as the official timekeeper for the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2015 WBSC Premier12 international baseball tournament. January 2012 saw the debut of a Ferrari/Hublot strategic partnership, gradually built upon by two incredible watches – the Hublot Big Bang Ferrari Magic Gold and the Big Bang Ferrari Titanium. In a departure from the Big Bang creator’s typical brand ambassadors, Hublot introduced Jet Li as both its first Asian and first film star ambassador. Other Hublot ambassadors include footballer Diego Maradona, Olympian Usain Bolt, and Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma.
